Designing and painting an illuminated letter

Try your hand at designing an illuminated letter, drawing inspiration from Medieval Books of Hours, which incorporated flowers and insects in their borders. Seasonal flowers from the Botanic Garden will be used as subjects for decorating each letter with illustrations. Images will be worked in watercolour, and painting techniques will be taught through a combination of group demonstration and individual tuition; examples of images from illumination pages will be shown.
