Love in Idleness and the Virgin Rose
Twigs Way
Friday 14 June 2013
Celebrate the cult of Elizabeth in flowers and fountains. Courtiers vied with each other to lead the Virgin Queen down the ‘primrose path of dalliance’, creating Renaissance-inspired gardens at Kenilworth, Nonsuch and Theobalds. Poetry, prose and planting combined to place Elizabethan gardens at the very heart of the court, as wild roses met the Crown Imperial.
