We are delighted to announce that the Garden Cafe has today reopened in the Gilmour Suite of the Sainsbury Laboratory, right at the heart of the Garden.
Andrew and his team are greatly looking forward to welcoming you to this beautiful new space, designed by award-winning architects Stanton Williams, who have been responsible for every design detail, even down to the selection of chairs and tables. The elegant interior is a transparent space, looking through to the court of the Sainsbury Laboratory and out to the calm Cafe terrace that borders the exciting new herbaceous plantings and yew bluffs of the Cory Lawn relandscaping, designed by Bradley-Hole Schoenaich Landscape Architects.
Andrew has taken the opportunity to refresh the menu on re-opening. In addition to the earthy, homemade soups and filled baguettes and rolls, the Cafe is now able to offer homemade hot sausage rolls, savoury pastries, hot tarts and quiches. As ever, there are completely delicious homemade cakes and biscuits to finish, with freshly made coffees and teas.
The Sainsbury Laboratory will house 120 scientists studying plant development and diversity in state-of-the-art Laboratory facilities. Recruitment is underway and the Laboratory will open officially towards the end of the year.
