Senior Horticultural Technician (Glasshouses)

We are looking to appoint a full-time horticultural assistant for the Botanic Garden's Glasshouse Section.

The Glasshouse Section is one of seven sections that comprise the Garden's horticultural division, each responsible for caring for specific areas of the Garden and associated plant collections within the 40 acre site.

The role-holder supports the Glasshouse Supervisor in the maintenance, curation and development of the diverse plant collections and displays within the Glasshouse Range and Reserve Houses. This includes plant material from tropical, Mediterranean and desert biomes. It also involves the installation of temporary displays such as the annual orchid display.

The role-holder reports directly to the Glasshouse Supervisor on daily and weekly work plans, progress and developments within the Section. They assist in providing supervision guidance to one trainee horticultural technician and deputise for the Glasshouse Supervisor as required.

The candidate should be educated to at least GCSE level, hold a National Certificate in Horticulture, or equivalent, and have suitable professional horticultural experience.
