Getting to the Garden

The Botanic Garden occupies a 40-acre site less than a mile south of Cambridge City Centre, bordered by Trumpington Road (A1309) to the west and Hills Road (A1307) to the east.

The Garden has two entrances:

- Brookside Gate is located at the corner of Trumpington Road and Bateman Street (* please see below information on roadworks in 2017)

- Station Road Gate is located behind the War Memorial at the junction of Hills Road and Station Road.

Both Gates are open daily.

Car / Park & Ride
If travelling by car, we advise you to use the Park & Ride services, see Useful Links on the left of this page. The Trumpington Park & Ride (off J11, M11, open daily) delivers and collects near our Brookside entrance. The Babraham Park & Ride, near the Gog Magog Golf Course, stops at the train station, from where it is a short walk up Station Road to the Station Road Gate.

There is a dedicated Bicycle Park for Garden visitors on Bateman Street, 65 metres from the Brookside Gate, and a further visitor Bicycle Park area inside the Station Road Gate.
Please note that on Thursday 10 August, and possibly Friday 11 August, 2017, the Bike Park near Brookside Gate will be closed to accommodate some vehicle movements for tree works at that end of the Garden. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Groups arriving by coach are advised to download the coach parking map for Cambridge from the link left. There is a 2-bay coach drop (15 mins max waiting) near the Brookside Gate, on Trumpington Road: coaches are asked not to use the bus stops on Trumpington Road for dropping passengers, please.

There are pay & display bay parking bays, 8 hour maximum stay, on the west side of Trumpington Road only (ie opposite the Garden), that operate every day. There are also a few pay & display bays on Bateman Street, 2 hour maximum stay, that also operate every day. Blue badge holders may park in these pay & display bays free of charge with no time limit, when displaying their badges.

Trumpington Road roadworks
During 2017, there are roadworks on Trumpington Road, alongside the Garden, for new cycle lane provision. Please allow extra time for your journey into Cambridge during these highway works. More information can be found on the Cambridge County Council website. See Useful Links on the left of this page.

The pavement and pedestrian access to our Brookside Gate from Trumpington Road will remain open during these works.
