Getting to the Garden

The Botanic Garden occupies a 40-acre site less than a mile south of Cambridge City Centre, bordered by Trumpington Road (A1309) to the west and Hills Road (A1307) to the east.

The Garden has two entrances:

* Brookside Gate is located at the corner of Trumpington Road and Bateman Street; and

* Station Road Gate is located behind the War Memorial at the junction of Hills Road and Station Road.

Both Gates are open daily.

Car / Park & Ride
If travelling by car, we advise you to use the Park & Ride services, see Useful Links on the left of this page. The Trumpington Park & Ride (off J11, M11, open daily) delivers and collects near our Brookside entrance. The Babraham Park & Ride, near the Gog Magog Golf Course, stops at the train station, from where it is a short walk up Station Road to the Station Road Gate.

Bicycle
There is a dedicated Bicycle Park for Garden visitors on Bateman Street, 65 metres from the Brookside Gate, and a further visitor Bicycle Park area inside the Station Road Gate.
Please see below regarding bringing bicycles into the Garden.

Train
Cambridge Rail Station is a 4 to 5 minute walk from the Station Road Gate entrance to the Garden, along Station Road. If taking a taxi from the station to the Garden, the driver will likely drop you at the Brookside Gate due to the lack of parking/stopping nearby the Station Road Gate.

Coach
Groups arriving by coach are advised to download the coach parking map for Cambridge from the link left. There is a 2-bay coach drop (15 mins max waiting) near the Brookside Gate, on the opposite side of Trumpington Road. Coaches are asked not to use the bus stops on Trumpington Road for dropping passengers, please, and in no case to park on the cycle lane lying on the Garden side of Trumpington Road.

Car
There are pay & display bay parking bays, 8 hour maximum stay, on the west side of Trumpington Road only (ie opposite the Garden), that operate every day. There are also a few pay & display bays on Bateman Street, 2 hour maximum stay, that also operate every day. Blue badge holders may park in these pay & display bays free of charge with no time limit, when displaying their badges. Please see our 'Accessibility' page for information about dropping visitors off at the Garden.

Bicycles + foot-scooters in the Garden
Please note that no bicycles or foot-scooters may be used by visitors in the Garden.
