Nesting Blue tits

We have been keeping an eye on the pair of Blue tits in our webcam-fitted bird box since early spring and on 30 April, all eight eggs hatched! The tiny chicks have been growing at a great pace since then, with the parents making almost constant hunting trips to the nearby oaks to gather food, particularly green caterpillars.

We will post the latest clips below so you can follow their progress and we will archive them all on youtube which you can access via the link below left.
For many years, the Garden has been the site of some collaborative research into the relationship between habitat and breeding success in Blue tits and Great tits. To discover more, follow the Raising a Brood in the Unknown link left.
