Tuesday to Thursday inclusive (24 hours per week average)
This is a part-time maternity leave cover post, working 24 hours per week within the Visitor Services and Administration Division of the Botanic Garden, Tuesday to Thursday each week for 12 months or until the return of the post-holder whichever is the earlier.
Responsible to the Visitor Services Team Leader, the Visitor Services Assistants provide excellent front of house service. They will welcome visitors, staff the reception area enquiry point and ticket offices, sell publications and membership, patrol the Garden to ensure the safety and security of its collections, buildings and visitors, ensure public areas are clean and fully stocked, and assist in setting up rooms for events and activities. Includes working outside in a wide variety of weather conditions.
Candidates should be educated to GCSE level standard or equivalent (including English and Mathematics) and be committed to providing first-class customer service. Previous experience of cash-handling, cash tills and computers is essential. A good telephone manner and the ability to deal with people at all levels is required.
