Cory Library Manager

Part-time: 20.0 hours per week

Applications are invited for the post of Cory Library Manager. Responsible to the Curator, the Library Manager will have responsibility for overseeing the operation of the Cory Library of botanical and horticultural books and journals. They will work at Cory Lodge, the building housing the Garden’s Cory Library, Herbarium and Archives.
Applicants must be educated to ‘A’ level standard or above together with GCSEs or equivalent in English and Mathematics. They must hold professional librarianship qualifications.

Candidates are expected to have excellent IT skills, including experience with the Microsoft Office suite and of database systems. They must be familiar with cataloguing rules (MARC and AACRII), with the Voyager Library Management system and with UK Copyright regulations. They must also have an understanding of material conservation issues. An interest in botanical/horticultural literature would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will have effective communication and inter-personal skills and be able to deal with a wide range of people. They will have proven organisational skills, the ability to work unsupervised and several years’ experience of working in a library.
