November 2015

November has been a very mild and windy month with several gales and few frosts.

We had eight recordings of gale strength winds where they reached over 40mph and the Garden was shut or was delayed in opening. These were on the 9th, 12th and 13th, 15th, 17th, 18th and 19th, 29th and 30th. During these winds there was some tree limb damage, most notable on the Cercis siliquastrum close to Station Road.
The temperatures have mostly been very mild with an average maximum of 13.5°C and high of 17.4°C, while our average minimum was 6.5°C. The averages are usually 10.5°C and 3.9°C respectively.

Despite the mild weather, we did encounter some hard frosts. We had three air frosts and seven ground frosts, the coldest reaching -3.6°C in the air and -7.1°C on the ground. This was hard enough to take out the most tender of plants around the garden.
There was one snow day on the 21st, however the flakes mixed with rain and didn't settle.

We had an average amount of rainfall, 55.4mm that fell over 22 days.
