The Botanic Garden in summer is suffused with scent, nowhere more so than in the Scented Garden. Recently replanted, the Scented Garden is an intoxicating planting to wander through, with a rich mix of annuals, such as the unusual Nicotiana suaveolens, combining beautifully with classic perennials including roses and herbs.

The Systematic Beds are at their zenith and reward a thorough exploration and the Bee Borders are buzzing with pollinating insects.
Flower is everywhere, with the Rose Garden a highlight not only for the roses but also for the thick lavender underplanting.

In the summer heat, seeking cool shade under some of the Garden's most majestic trees - the cedars on the Main Walk, for example - is wonderful, and some trees, like the Catalpa species are in full flower.
