An enormous Catalapa erubescens ‘Purpurea’ occupies the focal position of the Limestone Rock Garden, a grande dame surrounded by her alpine minions!
The flower stalks and buds are a wonderful papal purple that also colours the new leaves, whilst the throats of the enormous frilly white flowers are dusted with the same papal purple and striped with gold. The tree shakes out a rich, floral scent over the Rock Gaden.
