The autumn winds have brought down the lurid, neon-green, curiously wrinkled fruits of the Osage Orange, Maclura pomifera, known amongst the staff as 'pickled gardners' brains'. The fist-sized fruits are lying in a rather disconcerting pool at the base of the tree!
Interestingly there were no fruit at all last year in 2011, but a small crop this year.
