Looking good now
This beautiful American sweetgum is still aflutter with orange, butter yellow, coral, crimson and deep mulberry coloured leaves, each with five sharply-pointed lobes.

Osage Orange

The autumn winds have brought down the lurid, neon-green, curiously wrinkled fruits of the Osage Orange, Maclura pomifera, known amongst the staff as 'pickled gardeners' brains'. The fist-sized fruits are lying in a rather disconcerting pool at the base of the tree!
Interestingly there were no fruit at all in 2011, a small crop in 2012, non-existent crop in 2013 but copious fruit this year.
