The perfect workshop for beginners or those looking to improve their drawing technique
Join us at the Botanic Garden for a relaxed and creative (morning /afternoon) of sketching ‘en plein air’ with botanical artist Caroline Henricksen. The taster session will focus on close up observational drawing as well as quick preparatory sketches to be used in later compositions.
With teacher demonstrations, advice and in particular individual tuition, this is a perfect workshop for beginners or those looking to improve their drawing technique.
Materials will be provided including sketchbooks, paper, a variety of artist quality graphite pencils, graphite sticks etc, boards, stools and easels, along with refreshments. We are likely to be outdoors most of the day so dress appropriately.
After graduating in graphic design at Middlesex University, Caroline specialised in medical and botanical commissions for a number of years, including the British Heart Foundation, Hunterian Museum and recently filming with BBC1’s Countryfile. As a botanical artist she works in pencil and watercolour to record the beauty found in everyday nature, beginning most of her work ’en plein air’, recording a snapshot that she can take back to the studio to work on in further detail. As well as exhibiting her own work in galleries, Caroline regularly teaches children and adults to draw and paint.
