Juicy plums, pears, quince, apples, crab apples and even raspberries are all available in September.
If they are still attached to the bough or twig, and with some leaves, then even better as these ‘extras’ add so much interest to a piece of botanical illustration, as well as giving the subject some ‘anchorage’.
You will be shown how to make your work look three-dimensional and ‘pickable’ off the page as well as how to tackle gloss, shine and bloom, hairs, defects and bark. All aspects of coloured pencil work will be covered including smooth gradations of colour, clean, sharp edges, shadows and fine detail and, of course, how to rectify mistakes!
Janie has won two RHS gold medals for her illustrations of fruit and is perfectly qualified to show how it’s done.
This course is suitable for those with some previous illustration experience.
