Cambridge University Botanic Garden will be offering a week long work experience opportunity from 18-22 July 2022 for four students. Two places will be available for Year 12 or 13 A level students (or equivalent) and two places for an undergraduate student.
During the week, you will be based within and supported by the Learning Team with input from other colleagues across the Garden. You will have the opportunity to visit behind the scenes at the Garden as well as the Cambridge University Herbarium and Botanic Garden Library.
You will gain an understanding of how a Botanic Garden operates and its various roles in society, with a specific focus on science communication, education and conservation.
The week will include practical tasks such as digital photography, plant identification, pollen microscopy, working with herbarium specimens, GIS, wildlife and phenology monitoring, and scientific research. A key outcome will be the creation of an online educational resource that will be available for download on our website. This will aim to translate current plant science research for post 16 audiences.
