Assistant Horticulturist (Landscape and Machinery)

Salary: £23,487-£27,116 per annum
The role holder supports the Garden Landscapes team on the maintenance of the hard landscape areas of the Garden including paths, maintains turf areas and composting areas, hedges throughout the Garden and provides servicing and repair of equipment and staff training in the safe use of machinery. The collections and areas within this role are popular with visitors and are an important resource for research and education purposes within the Garden, University and the wider botanical and horticultural community.
Reporting to the Team Leader (Garden Landscapes) the role holder will be responsible for caring for specific areas of the Garden and its collections.

Assistant Horticulturist (Trees and Shrubs)

Salary: £23,487-£27,116 per annum
The role holder supports the Garden Landscapes team on the maintenance, care and curation of the trees and other wood collections. The tree collection is one of the finest in the East of England, of great heritage value and of international significance. The role includes the care and maintenance of associated herbaceous plantings and turf areas. There is also a requirement for occasional arboricultural work.
Excellent plantsmanship is required in this role to ensure that the collections are developed and maintained. The collections and areas within this role are popular with visitors and are an important resource for research and education purposes within the Garden, University and the wider botanical and horticultural community.

Collections Coordinator

Salary: £27,116 – £31,406 per annum
This is a new post at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden (CUBG).
The collections at Cambridge University Botanic Garden are at the heart of our identity, helping to drive the University’s pursuit of excellence in education, learning and research.The post holder will play a key part in integrating and coordinating our collections with each other, with the University, and with external stakeholders.
The post holder will support curation of the collections with a focus on coordinating the management and utilisation of the different collections: living, herbarium, seed, and archives. The post holder will accelerate the integration and management of our herbarium and living collections, seed collection and seed bank development, and the acquisition of high-quality material through botanical expeditions and plant collecting.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and team-oriented individual who is experienced and knowledgeable about plants, plant science, plant conservation, and collections. A keen and active interest in plant taxonomy and systematics, evidenced by graduate and/or post-qualifications is highly desirable.
