(Eudicots)
The Asterid group of eudicots is large, and recently derived. The flowers are ornate with organs fused into tubes, making them attractive to insect pollinators. Asterids encompass around 80,000 species (approximately 1/3 of all flowering plants), including nightshades, daisies, morning glory, mint and snapdragon.
