Illustrating Roses in Watercolour

Gael Sellwood
Tuesday 12 June - Thursday 14 June 2018

Roses are sometimes avoided by the botanical artist because of their form and delicate petals. On this three-day course we will look at form and colour mixing as well as the watercolour techniques which give the best outcomes. We will also look at art involving roses as well as pleasing presentations of these flowers which are the traditional symbol of love.

Working in detail with watercolour on paper you can either work on a composition in detail or develop techniques in your sketchbook. The course will focus on composition as well as colour mixing techniques and watercolour wash. There will be both demonstrations of techniques, as well as individual tuition.

This course is designed for those with some experience of botanical illustration.
