We are delighted to welcome back the Cambridge Summer Music Festival this summer, when they bring five diverse up-and-coming ensembles to grace the Garden's late 'til 8 pm evening openings.
The Sounds Green picnic proms will take place every Wednesday evening in July beginning at 6.15 pm. These are relaxed and informal recitals on the Main Lawn so do bring along a small folding chair or cushion to sit on – and check the weather forecast to see if a brolly and raincoat may be required for the English summer!
The Garden Café (open until 7.30pm) will be offering a seasonal special menu including, weather permitting, a barbecue on the outdoor terrace, while a Main Lawn outstation will be set up offering delicious nibbles and antipasti, icecreams, fresh strawberries with cream. Or you are welcome, of course, to bring your own picnic.
Sirocco will open the series on Wednesday 3 July. With influences from classical, folk and jazz, the dynamic saxophone quartet Sirocco, are all graduates of the Royal College of Music and perform original work and new interpretations, with an emphasis on Eastern European and Argentinian repertoire.
We then welcome Quintabile for the first time to the Garden on 10 July, welcome back 3D Jazz on 17 July and Trovador on 24 July. The series closes on 31 July with the Meridian Duo of Eri Kaishima and Jennifer Parkinson who join forces to unveil the dynamic and lyrical voice of marimbas and percussion through powerful and evocative performances engineered to create inspirational and inclusive experiences for people across community sectors.
We are indebted to Mills & Reeve for their generous support for Sounds Green.
The Garden will close at 8pm.
