Summer internship opportunity

We are looking for someone starting out on their career, with a passion for plant science communication and horticulture. The successful intern will help develop our landscaping and interpretation strategies for the Rising Path project on Systematics.
The Cambridge University Botanic Garden has been successful in securing generous support from The Monument Trust to undertake a three-year project called Understanding Plant Diversity. The project’s overarching vision is to provoke curiosity about, and enjoyment of, the phenomenal flowering plant diversity represented and organised into their family groupings on the Systematic Beds. Its mission is to unlock their potential for research, learning and enjoyment while protecting and reinvigorating their heritage value.

This will be achieved through a programme of inter-linked horticultural renovation and curatorial improvement to modernise the scientific relevance of the Beds, and the commissioning of an exciting new interpretation hub and viewing platform dubbed the Rising Path, along with associated learning and engagement opportunities, of which this internship is one.

This internship project will deliver a vital research base for development of a key interpretation strand for the Rising Path and make recommendations as to the desirability and feasibility of developing an Early Land Plants garden as part of the landscaping strategy around the Rising Path.

This is an ideal summer project for a horticultural college student/Part 1 Natural Sciences student or as a first step upon graduation for those who wish to pursue a career in science communication, horticulture and/or landscape design.

For full details including how to apply, please download the Internship Details description from the link left. The role is for 3 days per week for 12 weeks to be taken in one block between 1 July - 31 October. The deadline for receipt of a CV and statement is 12 June 2017.
