Honeyed limes

Strolling along the Western boundary of the Garden in summer, the air is saturated with the heavy, rich sweet scent of lime trees in full flower.

A good example is the Silver Lime, Tilia tomentosa, from south east and central Europe. There is a handsome example close to the Main Gate; it is particularly attractive when the wind rustles the leaves, revealing silvery undersides.
