Some of the most fiery autumn colour is developing on the trio of Acer palmatum ‘Osakazuki’ in the Autumn Garden.
The palmate, seven-lobed leaves turn all the bonfire colours from deep reds and purples through to pale coral and orange. Each leaf is held on a slender, cerise pink stalk as are the samara fruits – a pair of seeds held in paper burgundy wings.
