Helleborus argutifolius

The pale green flowers of Helleborus argutifolius light up this corner of the Woodland Garden.
A native of Corsica and Sardinia, Helleborus argutifolius is a stout perennial which enjoys neutral to alkaline soils in full sun or dappled shade. It has dark green, toothed foliage from which erupts a terminal cyme of open, bowl-shaped flowers. These have five tepals in the midst of which sit numerous stamens. Helleborus argutifolius can reach 90cm in height, and will continue to produce flowers throughout spring.
