Isaac Newton's apple tree

In the 1680s Sir Isaac Newton developed his theory of gravity. It is said that he was inspired to formulate his theory by watching the fall of an apple from a tree in his garden. This particular tree was propagated from the original tree grown at Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire – Newton’s birthplace and family home. His theory was published in Newton’s Principia in 1687, although with no mention of the apple anecdote!
The apple tree variety is 'Flower of Kent' and it produces large, attractively striped but unfortunately not very tasty apples.
