The Christmas or Winter Box is one of those marvellous winter highwaymen. As the eye is caught by diminutive snowdrops or bright yellow aconites, the nose is suddenly assaulted by the rich honeyed scent emanating from the glossy-leaved, arching sprays of Sarcococca confusa.
At the node where each alternately arranged leaf meets the stem dangle tassles of small, silky white flowers, their delicacy and modesty entirely belying the depth and sweetness of the scent they produce.
