The Musk or Armenian Willow on the south shore of the Lake looks as though a flock of hundreds of tiny, fluffy birds has landed along all the branches.
These are the large, beautiful, silky-soft grey male catkins, held strongly upright along the purplish-red branches, currently extra icy under a dusting of frost.
