Forsythia giraldiana

Consistently the first into bloom on the Forsythia beds, just round the corner from the Persian Ironwood, is Forsythia giraldiana.

It is already softly glowing with pale yellow flowers strung in pairs along the upward-turning, rich-red stems. Much less brassy than some of its relatives!
