Fat fists of buds in a lovely silvery lilac are about to erupt into flower on the stand of three Daphne bholua 'Jacqueline Postill' that greets you at the mouth of the Winter Garden.
Clusters of 12-16 flowers are held in soft sage green sepal cups and as each white, pink-flushed glistening flower of four petals opens up, an intense sugary scent is released on the air.
