Looking good now
The fat fists of silvery lilac buds on Daphne bholua 'Jacqueline Postill' have opened up to release an intense, sugary scent at the mouth of the Winter Garden.

Olive Courtyard (private)

Part of the landscape surrounding the Sainsbury Laboratory, this area can be viewed from the Garden Cafe although the Courtyard itself is private.
The grove takes takes its inspiration from finding a small tree that would thrive in this warm, sheltered, south facing courtyard. With a look to the future this Courtyard might just provide the right microclimate for olives to form, already a few fruits are known to have formed on trees in Cambridge.

While we don’t expect a large harvest, these trees from the Mediterranean should be well adapted to thrive in the hot dry conditions we can expect in summer.
