While the leaves of the American Sweetgum, Liquidambar styraciflua, dropped weeks ago, the foliage on the Turkish Sweetgum, Liquidambar orientalis are only just starting to colour. We grow the pair together by the Lake to give months of incandescent autumn colour.
The Turkish Sweetgum is slow-growing and has smaller leaves than its American cousin that form a dense covering. The colour yellow-lime foliage turns coral orange at the apex and floods down to submerge the lime and yellow tints.
