Looking good now
Through the Woodland and on the Systematic Beds, hoops of orange and yellow crown imperial bells sporting a tuft of bright green leaves are standing in joyful crowds.

Ligularia japonica

The watersilk blues of Iris sibirica have been overtaken by the statuesque Ligularia japonica that lines the stream garden. The branched inflorescences of tight velvety, pleated buds erupt into pale orange daisy discs.
The flowers are popular with bumblebees, who occupy the flower so fully that it is sometimes a surprise to find that the central disc is in fact golden also rather than the dark brown of the bumble!
