Passiflora phoenicea

Flowering on this amazing passionflower is sporadic with flushes of these most exotic of blooms coming and going. The puce and white, fleshy outer skirt of petals arranged in two whorls seem lifted to display the outrageous electric blue and white striped petticoat underneath. Each rolled tatter is curled like a tendril and forms a curtain around the complex flower structure within.
The vine seems to run along a greath length of the roof of the western tropics house that leads through to the central pool although some hanks of vine do drop down closer to eye height.
