This Garden is full of extraordinary plants, but this beehive ginger is right up there. Native to South East Asia, the upright stem swells to a cotton bud shape, covered in waffle lattice of lipped bracts in a rather sickly pale yellow. Occasionally, hooded, dark spotted flowers peep out from the voids as a toddler might stick a tongue out at a passerby!
