Looking good now
Through the Woodland and on the Systematic Beds, hoops of orange and yellow crown imperial bells sporting a tuft of bright green leaves are standing in joyful crowds.

Hepatica marmorata

These gems are easily overlooked on the eastern flank of the Rock Garden. You'd be missing out! The flowers in a silvery purple are held on rigidly upright hairy stems, peering out to survey the company like miniature periscopes. The basal leaves are tri-lobed and mottled.
The oval petals irregularly overlap and each flower looks to have nestling at its centre the beautiful, highly engineered and articulated cauldron for the 2012 Olympic flame, designed by Thomas Hetherwick.
