Trillium grandiflorum

This snow trillium, Trillium grandiflorum is a three sailed windmill of ice white, strongly creased petals interleaved with smaller apple green sepals. Emerging from the tubular corolla is a splayed paintbrush of golden stamens and tri-partite stigma.
It is native to eastern and mid USA mountain ranges, often emerging, as the common names suggests, when snow still blankets the slopes.
