Looking good now

Malus trilobata in flower

This crab apple in the rose family is one of the best selections for a small garden. The compact conical shape is pleasing year round and in early summer, the tri-lobed leaf cover is enlivened further with large open cups of ice-white flowers, always buzzing with bees. You may even spot a tree creeper, which has been observed diligently excavating the crevices and cracks in the trunk.
In autumn, the fruits and leathery lobed leaves turn a rich burgundy red.
