Crepis rubra seedheads

Notwithstanding the hint of autumn that these beautiful seedheads imply, they are a marvellous feat of botanical engineering. Each silvery parachute is poised to fly away, taking its life-giving cargo with it. The one or two stuck behind gather raindrops in their shuttlecocks.
