Scabiosa olgae

This lovely pincushion flower in the teasel (Dipsacaceae) family produces shallow saucers of light lilac flowerheads singly on tall stalks. Nectar rich, they are swarmed over by bees and butterflies.
The seedhead that follows is a globe of individual seeds, each sporting a pale green, taffeta ruff.
