Wintersweet and the Lynch Walk

Flanking Lynch Walk, the magnolia collection in late winter is covered in suede, flame-shaped buds, irresistible to the touch.

If you catch a rich scent on the breeze, it is probably coming from the waxy yellow flowers of the large Wintersweet, Chimonanthus
mid-way along the border. Watch out also for the intriguing small yellow blooms of the unusual shrub, Sycopsis sinensis and the scarlet new leaves of emerging peonies.
