We grow this as a pollard and prune back previous year's growth to the knobbly trunk. This encourages vigorous, whippy new growth which in early autumn terminates in racemes of limoges-blue flowers arising from bristly, raspberry pink calyces.
The pruning regime and the profuse flowers result in a hazy, soft blue, domed shrub that attracts visitors across the Main Lawn.
