The exhibition will feature the very best botanical photography from across the world, celebrating the beauty and importance of plant life in its many diverse forms.
Eight main categories including The Beauty of Plants, Wildflower Landscapes, Beautiful Gardens and Breathing Spaces will be on display, plus winners from the Macro Art Photo Project.
Visitors can expect to see thought-provoking and challenging images which seek to bring people closer to plants and gardens, increase public understanding of the natural world and champion photography as a mode of conservation.
From a rare lone orchid in the Hengduan Mountain Range in China to an atmospheric sunrise in the Peak District, the exhibition will take visitors on an inspirational journey through sights both familiar and unknown.
This year’s exhibition will be even bigger for a truly immersive experience, featuring the 12 panel IGPOTY outdoor exhibition structure, with each panel measuring 1.8m x 1.8m.
Beverley Glover, Director of Cambridge University Botanic Garden says: “We are delighted to be sharing a selection of winning images from IGPOTY’s 10 year anniversary exhibition with our visitors. As a scientist I look at plants in lots of different ways – often through a microscope lens rather than camera lens – and am constantly inspired by them. We hope this exhibition will also encourage our visitors to take a closer look at their environment and especially the beautiful surroundings of the Botanic Garden and be inspired and intrigued by the plants we grow here. We grow such a diverse range of plants from right across the globe, so there’s plenty of great material for budding photographers – and scientists!”

IGPOTY – now in its eleventh year – continues to be the world’s most prestigious competition and exhibition for garden, plant and botanical photography with entries from around the world – open to all ages, amateurs and professionals alike, with a Young Garden Photographer of the Year award for under 17s. The IGPOTY exhibition tours the UK and worldwide. The competition runs from February to October each year and has a first-place prize of £7,500.
