Seasonal Trails

Different trails throughout the year, showcasing the Garden's seasonal stories.

Snowdrop Trail

(This is the online version of the paper booklet available at ticket offices in the Garden.)

There are 48 different species, varieties, cultivars and hybrids of snowdrop (Galanthus) to see here at the Garden. Most are planted outside permanently, but some are also displayed on rotation within the Mountains House in our Glasshouse Range.

Download the Snowdrop Trail leaflet (opens in new window).

The orange dots on the map indicate ‘snowdrop hotspot walking routes’ where you can see our snowdrops growing and find panels that explain more about snowdrop science, history, folklore and cultivation.

Please note: this trail has accompanying information boards in the Garden but is not marked with purple trail signs.

Fungi of the Botanic Garden

Autumn is a time for fungi, when the damp, decaying leaves create the perfect conditions for these fascinating organisms to thrive. Our seasonal Fungi Trail invites you to explore the hidden world of mushrooms and other fungi that play a vital role in the Garden’s ecosystem. From the striking redlead roundhead to the curious jelly ear, this self-guided walk highlights the diverse forms, colours and ecological roles of fungi throughout the Garden. Whether you’re a fungi enthusiast or simply curious about nature’s recyclers, this trail offers a unique opportunity to discover the beauty and mystery of these often overlooked organisms.

Download the Fungi of the Botanic Garden seasonal trail leaflet or download the map only.

Please note: this trail is only available online and is not marked in the Garden with purple trail signs.
