What’s On this Winter 2025

Embrace the New Year in the beautiful seasonal landscapes of Cambridge University Botanic Garden.

From the tranquillity and winter beauty of the Garden – including a stunning Snowdrop Trail and free Winter Interest Tours – to seasonal family activities and inspiring courses, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this winter. Visitors can also explore unique gifts in our shop and enjoy a tasty treat in the Garden Café.

❄️Winter colour: enjoy a tapestry of textures, bold colours and uplifting winter scents on a stroll through our stunning Winter Garden throughout December to March.

❄️Free Winter Interest Tours: Sundays at 11.30am and 2pm. Join a special tour every Sunday from 12 January – 23 February, as our expert guides lead visitors through the Garden’s seasonal highlights. Tours are free with Garden admission and on a first come, first served basis. Sign up at the Garden Ticket Offices.

❄️Cosy hideaway: discover alpine, arid and tropical delights in the warmth of our Glasshouse Range.

❄️Snowdrop trail: uncover the secrets of snowdrops! Explore our free Snowdrop Trail and discover over 40 different snowdrop species and cultivars, each with its own unique charm. Wander through areas of the Garden covered in these delicate blooms, learn about the varieties we cultivate, pick up expert tips on how to grow these seasonal flowers and delve into the fascinating worlds of snowdrop science, history and folklore along the way.

🌿Family Saturdays: enjoy monthly, free activities in the Schools’ Garden. From bird buffets and pollen prints to bee crafts and making pinecone bats, there’s something for everyone. Join us on the first Saturday of every month for plant and wildlife-themed crafts. Booking is required. See our What’s On pages for the full monthly series.

🌿Crazy Cone Caper: Join the winter whodunit mystery mystery! Pick up a free Crazy Cone Caper trail on your way into the Garden and start investigating. On your adventure you will find amazing pinecones from all around the world, discover cool facts and solve puzzles. Can you crack the case and identify which of our six suspects is guilty? This self=led family trail is running 8 January to 31 March.

🌿Twilight at the Museums: enjoy a fun-filled half term in the Garden as part of the UCM’s Twilight event happening across Cambridge. Check our What’s On pages closer to the date for exciting details of what we have planned!

🌱 Kickstart your year: discover new skills in the peaceful surroundings of the Botanic Garden. Our inspiring new range of adult courses and workshops for 2025 is now live. Whether you’re drawn to botanical writing, plant identification, garden history or photography, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.  Nurture your passions or explore something new! These courses make a thoughtful gift or a rewarding treat for yourself and run throughout the year.

🕙 Explore after dark: Wednesday 19 February. Experience the Garden’s Glasshouse Range after dark with Orchid Lates, our adult-only ‘lates’ event where you can immerse yourself in the beautiful world of orchids. During the event you can discover all about these extraordinary plants, get expert advice on growing orchids at home, join an orchid spotting hunt, test your knowledge with our orchid quiz and even get an orchid-themed face paint if you would like to! To make the evening even more special, your ticket includes two drinks from a local craft brewery—perfect for sipping as you explore and learn.

This event is for over 18’s only. Tickets cost £22 per person and go on sale mid-January.
