Cambridge Oak in flower

Follow your instinct and head for the heart of the Gilbert-Carter Memorial area once you sense a warm, copper glow. This shimmering dome is created by the happy coincidence of the new, metallic foliage emerging on the Cambridge Oak to push off the over-wintered, tough and leathery leaves, with the appearance of elongating catkins. This wonderful tree is in flower and new leaf, and repays a pilgrimage.
