Banksia spp. (Eudicots)
Eudicots are a second major group of flowering plants. They have ‘tricolpate’ pollen grains with three grooves along their polar axis. Banksia is an example of a basal eudicot in the Protea family; its flower spikes are sometimes called ‘cones’ (though incorrectly, as they are not conifers). Other basal eudicots include buttercup and sycamore.
