Handled tankard carving

Have you dabbled with greenwood spoon carving and are keen to take your skills to the next level? Then this might be the course for you! We are offering a one-day course in end-grain handled greenwood tankard carving for up to eight people. Learn how to make a tankard, as seen on House of the Dragon. We will take you from basic wood preparation, carving the tankard with an axe, auger and gouge work and finishing of the tankard that you can take away with you, and provide you with all the tools you need including chopping, auger and gouge blocks.

Please note this course will take place outside and requires a reasonable level of physical strength.

After a career in plant science research, Nick took the chance to change gears due to health-related issues. Nick now carves spoons and teaches workshops outdoors under a rain-out shelter where he can hear the birds singing and enjoy the sunshine in his wooded backyard. Along with his daughter, Nick also makes props for film, TV, and theatre productions, most recently House of the Dragon, as well as selling his hand-carved spoons and bowls online and at craft fairs and festivals.
