Plant families

This fun workshop introduces children to the idea of classification. They will discover that just like animals, plants have families, and learn some ways plants might be grouped together. Children will have the opportunity to hone their observational skills out in the garden and identify plants using simple keys.

Availability

This workshop is available April to October.

Children will

  • Visit the Garden’s plant family beds
  • Sort plants into groups based on their characteristics
  • Make careful observations of plants growing in the Garden
  • Use simple identification keys
