Dr David Hanke of the Department of Plant Sciences studies the role of plant growth substances in plant development and response to environmental variables.
The Botanic Garden grows, tends and lifts high quality tubers of Solanum tuberosum, cvs Majestic and Desiree, for Luke Browning, a research student working with David Hanke on an industry-funded PhD studentship to develop diagnostic tests for tuber dormancy. The team are currently analysing the results of the first targeted protein mass spectrometry analysis of samples taken from material grown in the Garden.
