Voicing the Garden

An oral history of Cambridge University Botanic Garden told by members of staff, trainees and visitors.

The year-long oral history project, Voicing the Garden, was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and by the Cambridge University Botanic Garden Association (CUBGA) and sought to collect, celebrate and share the stories of the people behind the plants – the people who have made, grown up in or simply enjoyed Cambridge University Botanic Garden.

These interviews give a rich picture of Garden life from the 1950s to the present day – the characters, the events and the everyday tales. They reveal how the Garden has changed through the years and the impact the Garden has had on the individual lives entwined in its history.
